We very much appreciate the interest that parents show in their children’s education and welcome their support.
We hope that they will help their children and the school by:
- Providing a reasonably peaceful, suitable place in which children can do their homework.
- Making
it clear to the children that they, as parents, value homework and
support the school in explaining how they can help their learning.
- Encouraging their children and praising them when they have finished their homework.
Here
is a homework schedule for each year group. The time allocation given
in the grid is approximate and you may find that your child may need
more or less time in order to complete the tasks.
| Reception: | Reading for 10 minutes every evening. High frequency words and sounds as appropriate. |
Year 1:
| Reading for 10 minutes every evening. High frequency words and sounds as appropriate. Additional homework including one piece of English and numeracy a week.

Year 2:
| Reading for 10 minutes and spelling for 5 minutes every evening. Additional homework including one piece of English and Numeracy a week. |
Year 3:
| Reading, spelling and tables for 20 minutes every evening. Additional topic work as appropriate. |
Year 4:
| Reading, spelling and tables for 25 minutes every evening. Additional homework relating to key subjects as appropriate

Year 5:
| Reading, spelling and tables for 30 minutes every evening. Additional homework relating to key subjects twice a week as appropriate

Year 6:
| Monday - spellings; Tuesday - Maths; Wed - Science; Friday – English (activities should take no more than 20 mins). Plus 20 mins reading a night
